Blind hiring to reduce bias when hiring

Available for the following plans: Employment Plus, Employment Unlimited

Reduce bias by hiding candidate identifiable information when hiring.

Enable blind hiring
  1. Click the Settings menu, then Recruitment settings.
  2. Click the Data Privacy Management tab. You may need to click the downward-facing arrow to see more options.
  3. Use the toggle to turn on the Enable blind hiring? option.

What changes when I enable blind hiring?

When you enable blind hiring, candidate details are anonymized during the early stages of recruitment to help reduce bias. This applies to candidates in the 'New' stage of the hiring process and those surfaced via SmartMatch.

While blind hiring is enabled, the following details will be hidden or replaced with placeholders:

  • Name (e.g., "Candidate #1212")
  • Photo
  • Social profiles
  • Address (may be replaced with an approximate location)
  • Email
  • Phone number

Hiring teams cannot contact candidates while they are anonymized. Candidate details will be revealed once they progress beyond the initial screening stage. Blind hiring can be toggled on or off in Recruitment Settings, and in some cases, at a job level. However, once candidates are in the pipeline, blind hiring may not be reversible.
