Manage the Hero Time Clock (HTC) facial recognition feature

Available for the following plans: Lite, Plus, Unlimited, or any plan with Time & Attendance Add-on
Available for the following user access levels: Admin, Manager with worksite permissions

Facial recognition for the Hero Time Clock (HTC) provides a hands-free clock-in and clock-out experience. This feature reduces the time spent at the kiosk to under five seconds by identifying employees through the camera and automatically filling in their details. By removing the need for manual PIN entry, you can ensure a faster transition for your team during peak traffic times.

Your organization must be using the work sites and positions time and attendance version to access the Hero Time Clock.

Enable facial recognition for your organization

Configure facial recognition settings
  1. Log in to the Web Portal.
  2. Go to Settings > Time & Attendance tile > click Kiosk (Hero Time Clock). settings-timeclock.png
  3. Switch the Facial Recognition toggle to ON.  facial-toggle.png

Helpful Hint

Once enabled globally, kiosks will sync automatically. Kiosks with facial recognition active will switch from the standard list view to a live camera view.

Enroll your face via the EH Work app

Register your biometric data on your mobile device
  1. Open the EH Work App on your mobile device.
  2. Click your profile picture in the upper-right corner to open your profile. 
  3. Tap Setup Face ID for Kiosks.
  4. Review the privacy consent and agree to the use of biometric data.
  5. Follow the instructions to take a clear photo of your face using the app's camera interface.
  6. Wait for the server to verify image quality and liveness.
  7. Once validated, you will receive a confirmation message that you are all set to use Face ID at work.

Clock in at the kiosk using your face

Use hands-free verification at the kiosk
  1. Approach the kiosk to view the live camera feed.
  2. Look at the camera. A green overlay will appear upon successful recognition.
  3. Verify your pre-filled location and position details displayed on the screen.
  4. The system will automatically submit your clock-in after a five-second countdown, or you can tap Clock In manually.

Helpful Hint

If you need to add a shift condition or change a detail while clocking out, tap the relevant field. This action pauses the auto-submit timer, allowing you to complete your selection manually.

What happens if the camera does not recognize me?

The system includes a seamless fallback method. If recognition takes longer than three seconds or fails to identify a face, the system reverts to manual PIN entry. You can tap Find my Card, select your name, and enter your PIN to complete your clock action.

Is my data secure?

We follow a privacy-first approach. Organizations and employees must explicitly enable this feature. Your facial data is stored securely and used only for workplace verification purposes.
