How to Create Custom Holiday Calendars

Available for the following plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum, Unlimited
Available for the following user access levels: Admin

Managing public holidays can be complex, especially when balancing statutory pay dates with observed days off.

Previously, creating a custom holiday calendar required manual entry for every holiday. With this update, admins can select a regional base template that auto-fills the calendar with standard public holidays. You can then edit, remove, or even add your own unique company-specific holidays to the template.

Getting started

How to Create a Custom Holiday Calendar

Follow these steps to set up your new calendar:

  1. Navigate to Settings: Go to Public Holidays in your admin dashboard.
  2. Add New Calendar: Select Add New Calendar and choose Custom Holiday Calendar.
  3. Select a Base Template: Locate the new Base Template dropdown menu.
    • Search for your specific region or country in the searchable list.
  4. Auto-Populate: Once a region is selected, the Public Holidays section will automatically fill with the standard dates for that area.
  5. Customize Your Dates:
    • Edit: Change the date or name of any auto-populated holiday.
    • Remove: Delete any holidays that do not apply to your organization.
    • Add: Use the "Add New" button to include company-specific holidays (e.g., a "Culture Day" or additional "Floating Holiday").
  6. Save: Review your dates and click Save to apply the calendar to your employees.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Can I change the template after I’ve already saved the calendar?

It's recommended to select your template at the start of the creation process. Changing templates mid-way may overwrite existing manual entries.

What if my region isn't in the dropdown?
The dropdown is searchable, so if you can't find a specific region, ensure your "Target Audience" settings allow for that region, or continue creating a manual calendar as before.
