Maintaining a clear record of company property—such as laptops, mobile devices, and security passes—is vital for both security and financial accountability. Whether your team is remote in British Columbia or office-based in Ontario, tracking who held what equipment and for how long reduces organizational loss and simplifies depreciation calculations for year-end reporting.
The Inventory to Return Report is a critical tool for offboarding. It allows you to identify exactly which resources are still in the possession of terminated employees, ensuring that no company property is overlooked during the final stages of the Canadian employment lifecycle.
1. Creating an Inventory to Return Report
Follow these steps to generate a list of outstanding assets that need to be collected from former team members.
Log in to the Employment Hero platform.
On the left-hand primary sidebar, click the Reports menu icon.
Click the Other Reports tab located at the top of the reporting dashboard.
-
Click the Asset Reports box.
Helpful Hint: This will open the master asset reporting dashboard, displaying four distinct reporting areas.
-
Locate the Inventory to Return section and click the View All button.
Helpful Hint: You will now see a detailed list of assets currently assigned to terminated employees. To narrow your results by specific Canadian provincial locations or departments, click the Filter button.
2. Exporting and Managing Return Data
For tracking collections or coordinating with your IT and facilities teams, you can export this data into a portable format.
Navigate to Reports > Other Reports > Asset Reports.
Click View All within the Inventory to Return section.
(Optional) Apply any necessary filters to isolate specific teams or dates.
Click the Dropdown (the downward-pointing triangle icon) located near the top right of the data table.
-
Click the Export CSV button.
The platform will generate a file and save it to your browser's downloads folder, which can be opened in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
