When switching from another payroll provider to Employment Hero's Payroll platform, some employees may already have Year-to-Date (YTD) time off balances. It’s important to transfer these entitlements to ensure that employees’ accrued time off is accurate.
You can add opening balances, including vacation starting balances, for all employees in bulk. If you notice an error or need to adjust an individual employee’s balance, you can update it directly from their employee profile.
Before using this feature, make sure your time off types are set up. For detailed instructions on creating time off types, see this article.
Opening Balances Locked After Finalizing Payroll
After you finalize a pay run, editing opening balances is no longer possible. It's important to ensure all details are correct before completing payroll.
Getting started
Click below to learn how to add vacation starting balances to the employee profile.
- In People, click on Employee List and select the employee whose time off balances have been added.
- In the Pay & Compensation section, click on the View more tab and select Opening Balances from the dropdown.
- Click on Edit next to the Vacation starting balance heading and enter the required amounts.
- Click the Save button.
