Conducting employee happiness surveys

Available for the following plans: Employment Lite, Employment Plus, Employment Unlimited
Available for the following HR plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum
Available for the following User Access level: Admin

The Employee Happiness feature enables you to monitor the sentiment of your workforce through anonymous surveys. Employees provide a score on a scale from one to ten, along with optional comments.

You can enable the survey and set its frequency (e.g., monthly or quarterly) through the Engagement > Engagement Settings menu.

Getting started

Responding to employee feedback allows you to understand the context behind specific happiness scores while maintaining employee anonymity.

Important

The ability to add a comment to an anonymous response is exclusively available on the Platinum plan. You can respond to a survey even if the employee only provided a numerical score without a written comment.

Interacting with Feedback: How to Add a Comment
  1. Navigate to the Engagement menu on the left-hand primary sidebar.
  2. Click the Happiness Schedules submenu.
  3. Select the Period: Use the Period drop-down menu to select the specific survey timeframe you wish to review.
  4. Initiate Response: Locate the specific response you want to address and click the Comment button.
  5. Type your required message in the text field.
  6. Click the Send button.

Daily activities

Stay on top of your workforce sentiment by triggering surveys manually or reviewing real-time results.

Send the Schedule Manually

While schedules are usually automated, you can trigger a survey at any time:

  1. Go to Engagement > Happiness Schedules.
  2. Click the Send now button at the top of the page.
View Completed Schedules

The results are instant. As soon as a Canadian employee submits their score, it appears in your report.

  1. Navigate to Engagement > Happiness Schedules.
  2. Select the required timeframe from the Period drop-down.
  3. Review results: You will see the average response score and the participation rate for that period.
Maintaining Data: Deleting Comments

If a manager's response needs to be removed (Platinum plans only):

  1. Go to Engagement > Happiness Schedules and select the relevant Period.
  2. Click the Comment button to view the existing conversation.
  3. Click the Three Dots (ellipsis) icon next to the comment you wish to remove.
  4. Click Delete, then click Delete again on the confirmation pop-up.

Understanding the Happiness Report

The report categorizes scores using the standard Net Promoter Score (NPS) colour logic to help you visualize sentiment at a glance:

Color Score Range Sentiment Interpretation
Pink 1 to 6 Detractors: Employees who may be unhappy or disengaged.
Amber 7 to 8 Passives: Employees who are satisfied but not highly engaged.
Green 9 to 10 Promoters: Highly happy and engaged employees.

Key Metrics

The report provides four primary metrics to help you track trends over time:

  • Current Period: Average Response: The mean happiness score for the chosen survey period.
  • Current Period: Response Rate: The percentage of your Canadian team that completed the survey.
  • Last 12 Months: Average Response: A rolling average showing long-term happiness trends.
  • Last 12 Months: Response Rate: Long-term participation trends to help identify "survey fatigue."
